A Cultural Start to the Season in Paris

A Cultural Start to the Season in Paris

In Paris, the September return doesn’t just mean going back to work or school—it also marks the beginning of a rich and inspiring cultural season.
By staying at Hôtel Alizé Grenelle, located in the heart of the 15th arrondissement, art lovers enjoy privileged access to the capital’s most anticipated exhibitions.

Here’s a look at the highlights of this 2025 cultural season.

Major Highlights This September

Two major exhibitions kick off this vibrant artistic season. The Musée du Luxembourg presents a stunning exhibition dedicated to Pierre Soulages, titled Paintings on Paper.

This deep dive into the world of the master of "Outrenoir" showcases his lesser-known but equally powerful works on paper, exploring the interplay of light and texture.

Just a few metro stops away, the Musée d’Orsay offers an exceptional retrospective of John Singer Sargent, focusing on his Parisian period (1874–1884). The exhibition traces the evolution of the American painter’s style, deeply influenced by Impressionism, through vibrant portraits that capture the elegance of the Belle Époque.

Last Chance to See 2025’s Standout Exhibits

If you haven’t yet seen some of the year’s standout exhibitions, there’s still time. The Musée de la Poste presents Stamp Notebooks: In the Spirit of the Times until October 13. The MAHJ (Museum of Jewish Art and History) reveals the moving journey of Paula Padani with The Migrant Dance through November 16.

Contemporary art fans can also admire works by Niki de Saint Phalle, Jean Tinguely, and Rick Owens at the Grand Palais and Palais Galliera—both running until January 4, 2026.
